I left...
I am currently writing this on my flight to Toronto. It’s a 9hr long flight, and I could not post my weekly newsletter because of the “Jattlag”. My head is trying to adjust its clock.
Update: I am just a lazy fuck, it’s not a timezone problem. This had been written a month ago, I just never posted it.
The Departure
My tickets got confirmed in the morning while the flight was due at night the same day. I tried my best to meet everyone but I couldn’t. Extra thanks to those who completed, extra love to those whom I couldn’t. It’s too sad; it’s too overwhelming leaving everything behind. You are a sum of all the people around you, like all the people; the cousins, the aunts, the friends, and all the backup isn’t available the way it used to.
Moving to a new country means I got to network from scratch. I only have a few people to start with, but I think that’ll work. What’s harder to adjust with is the loss of all the company.
Not just me, the home has an equally hard time adjusting to. The realization I would be missing on all the family events was horrible while I attended my elder brother’s birthday on a video call.
I took the step to move because I had to get out and explore more. I’m not saying home stopped me, but there’s only so much I could do at home. But now in a new country, I can explore different opportunities not available in my hometown.
Delhi To Albania
It was a smooth journey to Albania, all thanks to Lufthansa Business Class. They treat you like the VIP you are. Now that’s a different story; the staff asked me way too many times if actually, I had a Business Class ticket, because yes, they couldn’t believe it. But they served me well on both my flights.
I also went to Lufthansa Premium Lounge at Frankfurt Airport. I must say if I was an alcoholic, both the flights and the premium lounge would’ve been more than worth it. It was, anyway, worth it, so I am not complaining.
Staying in Albania
Albania is a low population country below Germany on the map. They aren’t well developed as India. Just as I wrote this, a gentleman behind me on the flight told me that Albania’s population is 3 million, so it’s not low, to which I replied I lived in Delhi, and the population is way more over there. Nice guy.
The hotel where we stayed was excellent. The best part?
Pool? No.
Food? No.
It was the jet spray 🌟
We stayed at the hotel only the day we landed. But the next day, we decided to explore more of this small country.
Fun facts: I did not even need a visa to get into Albania; Indian Passport holds power here. Also, the Indian currency is stronger here as compared to Albanian Leke.
In Tirana, the capital of Albania, there’s a city square, which is their version of Mall Road.
Random racism will be a part of life, I guess. Some locals called me Taliban and F you Nigga, so I think that’s a sign of not-so developed country.
We saw a Casino and me and my friend went in, ready to cash in money. We played different games and lost, but the experience was worth it.
Chicken Shawarma was good.
The food here is challenging to understand and eat for Indians and almost impossible for vegetarians. I managed somehow for three days by doing hit and trial for new items. The best item we hit was Pepperoni Pizza. The worst thing on the menu is pictured below and I don’t even know its name, but everyone nearly vomited because of its smell.
But on the last night of stay, we had some excellent desserts with a decent burger. At night, nothing else is open apart from the hotel, so it was the only option left.
I had Kitkat ice cream, and it was terrific. European Doritos tasted amazing, but Lays were okayish.
There was a breakfast buffet at the hotel, and it had good items. Like the average Indian, I also snuck the food into my room to manage my afternoon hunger.
The manager Mr. Mario was great. He helped us with booking cabs, printouts and everything. The man was great, and it’s sad he wasn’t on his shift when we checked out else, I would’ve tipped him £5.
DONDA
I got the time to listen to the album during my flight. Kanye has always been in a league of his own. This album keeps the legacy of Mr. West going. I loved it – Hurricane, Jail, Remote Control, No Child Left Behind and so many more. It’s the best time to become a Kanye West fan, to join the movement and become a part of something bigger.
JUDAA 3
Amrinder Gill has finally released his new album. Judaa 2 came in 2014, and it is still one of my favourite albums. Let’s say, man’s got game, and it’s just like the good old days.
Part 2
I have written a lot since I entered Canada. I never got the chance to finalize and post it. Mixed feelings, but life goes on; it will be fine.
Mai like kar deta ye newsletter, but I ran for 15 minutes straight for a guy, clicked some nice pictures but I can't see any of those pics here.
